Gasper Trama, known as the Trainer to the Stars, has been teaching rider education since 1966. In this video he shares his knowledge of basic and advanced skills including braking, cornering, swerving and counter-balancing. Detailed explanations coupled with repeated demonstrations make it extremely easy to follow and understand. Gasper Trama holds many state and national safety and instructor certifications and has taught celebrities such as Alan Alda, Scott Baio, and Liam Neeson.

My impression of "Freedom on the Open Road," I have mixed feelings. Overall, I'd say the information imparted was valuable. It is a fair refresher/supplement to the MSF Rider Courses. However, I feel more tactics could have been covered with fewer instances of information repetition by the voiceover narrator and instructor. I understand that repetition aids retention, but this is not live instruction. The nature of a DVD allows for revisiting salient points, as needed.
Nevertheless, there are precious few DVDs of this genre available. If you ride, I recommend seeking MSF courses near you. Follow-up with, "Freedom on the Open Road" by Gasper Trama to reinforce your training. I do not suggest this disc as a rider's sole source of instruction.

Freedom on the Open Road--Motorcycle Training provides an introduction to a few fundamental skills involved in safe motorcycle riding. While worthwhile viewing, the program is only an elementary introduction to the topic. The DVD is not a substitute for actual professional instruction and practice.
I learned more that a few new thing from this tape, it is one that should be watched
