This first DVD has the bulk of Sondahl's throwing and assembling demonstrations on it. He describes it for intermediate potters because although he talks about some basic things, you have to have some experience as a potter to be able to try the things he's showing. A beginning potter might either be inspired or put off by the video. It depends on how you feel about seeing pots thrown in less than a minute... In the narrative he tells what he's doing step by step, as well as the reasons for the things he's doing.
(about 60 minutes)
Featured on this DVD: 4 narrated demonstrations for throwing and trimming: Berrybowls and planters, disk vases, plates and teapots, as well as the Tobikanna chattering tool.. Also instruction on basic glazing tools and techniques, demonstrated on pots large and small. A special section on doing brushwork on the wheel is included also.

Sodahl presents great forms to make that would be good sellers for a professional potter but the most fasinating aspect of this DVD is the speed at which he makes the items. Awe inspiring!
Very interesting with some alternative ideas for making some forms.
I can see how this video could be intimidating to a beginning potter trying to emulate Sondahl's quick throwing methods. It should, however, be a goal for those beginning potters to work towards.
Throwing a large 6 pound bowl in 2 pulls was impressive, not to mention the many other forms thrown in seconds.
The view of the camera, lighting, etc was very well done.
This set of video's are great to watch. The speed at which Sondahl throws pots is inspiring. If you are wanting a training DVD,though I don't know if this is the best choice. The bottom line though is I am happy.
Brad can certainly throw fast and as a production potter, his loose forms and lightning speed are a credit to his trade. I'd have to tell my aspiring art pottery students to stay away from any long term teachings that this video presents, however. With me it's more about the shape and understanding the overall process rather than the speed at which you pull a pot.
I tried some of the throwing techniques after viewing the video and found that they worked great. It took me a few more pulls of the clay to get to the end product, but the results were pleasing. I liked that he moves right along with the process of each item and uses some handmade tools with household items.
Very difficult to mulipulate the sections of the program. I realy didn't care about his kids or his cat. Sondale is a very accomplished potter but it was hard to see some of the actions. He was too quick with the gesture or the light made the action obscure. I did enjoy it but would like to see more detail.
Same as the first tape. A bit over dramatic for a training video.I would like to see more information about about the pieces he is throwng.
I was very disappointed with the disc. It would not respond to "forward or skip". The opening display played too long. I would NOT recommend it.
