A good introduction to the use of a shaper in the home shop. The sections on tool bits and the use of the angle head to cut V ways was very useful. There's quite a bit on safety and safe setup of the shaper, something that's quite important with the shaper

Rest in peace Rudy.

This is a great intro to shapers video. If you are thinking about buying a shaper or just interested in how they work then this is the video for you. If you already own a shaper and have taken some cuts you should move directly to Rudy's 6 Projects for a shaper.

The great emphasis Rudy places on safety is well placed, the shaper is a powerful machine capable of causing great harm. With this video you will learn how to safely operate shapers of all sizes.

I would highly recommend this instructional dvd to anyone with a shaper and anyone who is considering buying a shaper. Rudy is a master at what he does and makes it very easy to understand what he is telling you. The quality of the dvd is not as good as factory produced, instuctional dvd's, but you can still see and understand what he is doing and telling you. In this age of CNC machines, there are not many true professionals left that you can learn the shaper operations from. Most of the books that are available were written and printed over 60 years ago. I learned how to operate my shaper by reading most of these old books, but there is nothing like seeing the machine in operation. I would rate this dvd a five, even though Rudy seems to slowly drag-on what he is teaching you. You may be tempted to fast-forward certain parts, but my advise is "don't." You may miss that one important word that may mean the success or failure of your project.

I really enjoyed this video. I had always wanted to know more about how to use a shaper and I don't think I had ever seen one in operation. It is typical Rudy... a little slow, but thorough.

Watched Rudy's video on Operating a Shaper and liked it very much. It explains in detail all aspects of the machine, and shows some cutting operations in action. It is worth watching if you are new or have many years in the trade. Allen A

Video was informational. I own a shaper but had never seen one run or how to shape and use the tool bits. The video helped. Will now rent the other shaper video.

I just bought a shaper, and I knew nothing about how to operate one. This video covers all the basics, and I felt ready to make chips. I'd recommend it to the complete beginner for sure, and maybe to someone not too far into intermediate
