The Howard Clark L6 Bainite Katana

...with Howard Clark

Knifemaking how-to video: The Howard Clark L6 Bainite Katana by Howard Clark 2_bulb Review this video!

In this DVD by Howard Clark, Mastersmith of Morgan Valley Forge, he and associates talk about the design and construction of his famous L6 Bainite Katana.

Includes discussions of the blade, the choice of steel, amazing examples of it in use, field testing (showing the amazing flexibility of the blade) and more.

Howard Clark says "What we are trying to do is make a sword that will not fail under any circumstances.", and from this video, it's clear that he succeeds.

NOT E: this video contains information about the finished product, but does NOT contain instruction on swordmaking. If you're looking for instruction, we recommend other videos in the knifemaking section.

I misunderstood that this dvd was going to be about Howard actually in process of MAKING an L-6 Katana, and salt bath at 500 F. to get Bainite. It was pretty good, but I was more interested in actually seeing how Howard goes about making one, instead of a commercial for the Katana and plugs by Bugai and some swordsmen.

The information in this video was not very useful. The author makes beautiful swords, I would have loved to have seen how he does it.

This is a VERY disapointing video. it seems to be advertising of a L6 Bainite katana. You will learn nothing about how to make it, temper it and/or forging it. It is all about people talking how good the katana performs.
