I'll rate the video a B- The instructor Lex was very clear and informative using an easy style. However several things could have been done for improvement: 1-Tramming using the spindle ring is not as accurate as the spindle shaft method so why show both alternatives? 2-Lubrication of the upper portion was entirely left out although it is just as important as the lower. 3-The use of a much longer spindle shaft makes for a more accurate the tramming should have been pointed out.
Very well thought out video, that was well produced. If you're new to mini machines, and their cleaning and setup, this is the video for you!! Proper setup is the key to accurate machine work, and this video can help!!
Essential viewing for the new owner of the Seig Chinese Mini-Mill. Great information on cleaning, lubricating, and setting up the mill for proper operation. I've had my mill for over a year and had not cleaned and lubed several places on it because I was unsure how to get to the parts....this video solved that issue and now my mill works better than ever!
Nice DVD, very instructional and even entertaining. It is to the point with little fluff. This is a professionally produced DVD with 3D animations, close ups, clear picture and sound. Everything is clearly explained in a language that is easily approachable for beginners. I highly recommend this video to anyone who owns one of the Chinese import mini-mills.
Great video! I was able to disassemble my unit and after cleaning, lubing, and reassembling it, I was able to notice very much improvement in the smoothness of the tables and headstock. It really helped. I bent a 1/4" threaded rod to hold the dial indicator for alignment and it feels a lot better to have the headstock/column so close to perpendicular to the table. And, in the future, should I feel the need to recalibrate the mill,--no problem. Thanks. Gary
Very informative. Rented video for tramming the Y axis of the head. Column could be shimmed, but was not advisable. Video stated if teardown and tuning is done properly. the Y axis should fall within .0005. Which it did.
A very handy presentation. The steps for dismantling, cleaning and adjusting the three primary movement axis are clearly shown and explained. The material is presented simply and in plain English without descending into a "Wrenching for Dummies" format.
Naturally, it's a bit dry and the gentleman giving the presentation could use an infusion of character or personality but he never becomes hard to follow or causes you to struggle to stay awake through the video.
I found the film to be very helpful and I recommend it to anyone with a mini-mill. This operation will transform your machine into a much smoother and more precise tool.
The instructor Lex was dry and marginally informative.
Improvements in several areas would have given the viewer more information about the mill with less focus on the obvious, removing screws and the like, I guess I was expecting more content. I am glad it was a rental, I would have been disappointed with the purchase of this DVD. I am new to this tool but I did not get as much out of this presentation as expected. Other DVDs pertaining to this tool, to me seem to have better content and instruction.
Very informative. I recommend it. Good, detailed explanation of the tramming procedure.
Most of this was no help, with my Sherline. But certain parts of the discussion of tramming were of value.
