It was interesting, but not very informative or professional.
Excellent down to earth demonstration of hollow vessel turning an finishing. I was impressed enough with his finishing technique that I adopted it. His use of CA glue, sawdust and crushed semi-precious stone to fill voids and decorate turnings is excellent. I was impressed enough with this video that I purchased my own copy after viewing.
Very good, some times your not sure what tool he is using but a very talent artist. He shows some of his work at the end of dvd that is outstanding and made me wonder how he made them.He should make another and show method of vertical groves like the ones display at the end of dvd
1)this dvd would not play in my sony player..first dvd i've ever had that would not play in this device. so i played it on my computer.
2)really poor camera work. if a turning dvd is going to be instructional you have to see what the tool tip is doing. i've looked at many and money spent on professional camera man is well spent, but not here.
3) dubbing the voice to the video after the shooting allows the background noises to be muffled and the voice to be clear. not done on this video although i would not reject it because of this problem. richard raffan's videos, for instance, seem to use this technique.
4) good tip on using velcro to hold sandpaper to a glove for interiors of hollow forms. i will use this tip.
5)his finished bowls and HF's are stunning. adding turquoise to the voids is brilliant. i just wish he had hired a pro to produce the video.
