I've taken a basic course in jewelry metalworking, but found this very helpful. She went into areas I hadn't been taught before and she had some different ways of doing things I had been taught. I do wish there were more close-ups of the work she was doing, though.
I didn't watch all of the video because the camera person didn't do any close-ups of her working process. Her studio was so messy, it just drove me nuts.
Some aspects of the video were interesting but her basic bench skill techniques leave something to be desired. As an example: it is a hazard both to tools and the individual to strike metal tools with metal hammers without eye protection... a BIG NO NO!
Also the original DVD stopped about 2/3 through so we sent it back for a replacement.
Nena knows what she is doing; unfortunately the person who was behind the camera does not. Poorly shot video.
Safety awareness was lacking on Nena's part and camera work was beyond pitiful, but everything else was decent.
I enjoyed this DVD. I am new to Jewelry making and learned a lot from her lessons.
Since I know almost nothing about metalsmithing, I loved this video, however after looking at other professionals, I noticed she was a little untidy....like the huge open bag of cat food in her metalsmith studio (poor kitty!) and she kept saying, "you probably don't want to inhale this", she used no goggles, no apron, no mask.........as opposed to Christine Dhein (Kum Boo video) who was as neat a pin. I still liked her projects and learned a lot from her though.

Very useful. I found that often when she was talking about something detailed, there wouldn't be any close-up photography. That would have been helpful.
This might be a good DVD for a beginner but I can't recommend it.
The camera work on this dvd was extremely poor. It would have been a better dvd if there were some close up while she was working. I guess that is why Revere on goldsmithing is the Top of the heap, good explanation, very very good close up. Rent Revere on goldsmithing...He teaches you how to be a Professional.
This is a fantastic DVD, I wish she had more; I learned a lot and it really enhanced my knowledge and techniques.
