Review this video!
This video takes the student through the process of working within a single given image, and completely transforming it while cutting--No drawing allowed! It is designed to familiarize the student with the four elements of surface etching: levels (not to be confused with carving), solid frosting, shading, and clear. These four possibilities can be used in unlimited combinations to produce a richness of product impossible using a simple "black-and-white" surface etching process. With techniques demonstrated in the video, the initial image can be used over and over, completely transformed. Every piece you do is custom. This video paves the way for the fundamentals of sequence of blast.

At first it seemed a little beginner-ish, but after getting in to it some more, I really began to appreciate this video, even though I have seen several of her supposedly more advanced ones.
From my perspective, in this video Butch shows how one can treat a simple surface etch, much like one would do when airbrushing. She demonstrates this by using different levels of frost, and gets in to just how she goes about it...emphasizing good cutting skills (on which she spends some time on teaching on this video) coupled by an ever intuitive approach.
I give it 4.5 stars.
I thought it was great. I really liked Butch's manner and simple way of explaining it.
This video is definitely worth watching.
