Great instruction on painting metal copper and brass. After watching this you will wonder why you thought it was so hard to do. Very good instruction and highly recommended.
I will most certainly recommend SmartFlix to my friends. I have such a busy schedule, that I found it hard to really devote the time I needed to the CD in just one week. You know I just love when I know what to expect from an artist and teacher. Johnnie Liliedahl is so consistently wonderful and always delivers the absolute best. No real flare, no bells or whistles, just fabulous nuts and bolts instruction and techniques that is so usable and a finished work of art! I am always impressed with what she does and I know I can trust her methods for excellent results. We've all seen that the shelves of art stores carry premixed copper, silver, pewter and gold and brass paints but she shows you how to use your 12 color palette to make these shades and apply color next to color to not only make your eyes see copper and gold/brass but also brighten the metals to gleaming, glistening colors! She is amazing...Additionally, the camera work is superb. You are shown the still life insert many times during the instruction and the quality is 100%. She and her productions are on the top of my list. If you are still a student at any level learning how to paint (who isn't?) her Dvds are just timeless.
Johnnie Lilidahl is one of the best living instructor/artists (IMO). It is amazing how she makes a drawing of a copper/brass pitcher 'come alive'. Can't wait to try her techniques.
Excellent video. The demonstration was vivid and well done. Ms. Liliedahl does a great job explaining how she does everything - very obviously takes a lot of thought and effort in producing her videos. However, I do not understand why it should take two discs to produce 95 minutes of video!
I learned so much from this video. Johnnie is an excellent teacher, she makes everything very clear and shows the entire process from start to finish about how to paint different metals. The filming and visual aids of split screen and labeling the color mixtures along with the sheets that come with the video about materials and color mixing were all extremely helpful.Unfortunately I did not have the colors on hand needed to paint metals to paint along with her but I feel pretty confident that I can paint metal when I purchase the needed paints.I will be ordering the series she offers as soon as possible.

I was unhappy with this video. I didn't think the metal was finished in the first video, and yet when I got the second, it was and the second only dealt with the background. (Could have stopped with the first video!)
This video was alright.While it contained good basic instruction, I found it to be just too short in length. Not a very good value, I'd say.
