This is a great video, for people who want to paint kids. Lots of instruction on getting the bone structure right for young children.
Johnnie does a beautiful job in this video. She goes slow enough for you to pick up on what she is doing and shows you how to create a realistic oil painting of a child's face. The only "flaw" is that, at times, the camera is too far away to get the full benefits of the detailed work she is doing. At times, the camera is zoomed in, while at other times, mostly toward the end, it doesn't move in close enough, so you have to really listen carefully to what she is saying. Over all, it is an informative video!
I really got a lot out of this DVD. Not only were there very good instructions about a child's facial features, but also good painting tips in general.

This video was just wonderful. Johnnie is superb as an artist and a teacher -- I got sooooo much information from her extraordinary instruction, even though I work in pastel. She is able to share so much in her ongoing dialogue as she paints. If I could I would want to study with her in person! I am renting her entire series if I can. A++++ A true must watch video if you want to paint in oils but even if you just want to understand children's portraiture and proportions.

Excellent. For the compact time of the DVD, compared to some other, more lengthy, but less information-packed demos, it was packed with very practical instruction and excellent tips.I plan to buy the DVD. It bears repeated watching because it dealt so well with showing the differences between painting a portrait of a very young person, versus a portrait of adults.
It's a very good dvd for new painters, I enjoyed it very much.
