Making big pots is a matter of technique and not strength. You will learn to make pots two to three times the scale you are presently working at.
Vases, bowls, large casseroles and jugs are demonstrated. The techniques show will open a new range of vessel possibilities that are enhanced by their scale.

These demonstrations were done very clearly and with good closeups by the camera. I think they are well worth the rental!
Liked it very much! I found the technique useful and could implement it immediately with my beginner skills to create the larger pieces.
Nice technique, the film making was probably not done professionally but it was informative.
Totally useful. Not a wasteful moment on this DVD - all good tips that will jump start large pot making.
This was an excellent video. I am now making larger vases! I like his technique and humor as well.
Well... explanations are concise, but I wouldn't recommend this video. It's nice that there's no ego involved, and it's not lecture-y.
The entirety of "taking macho out" can be summed up as "Throw 2 pieces, and join them". That's no knock on sectional throwing, which I think has it's place, but that's the only idea in the whole video.
You're not going to learn how to throw/pull half+ baggers. If you're working with fist size balls of clay today, you'll be working with fist size balls of clay tomorrow.
It's not much on throwing techniques, leverage, etc. It really is just.. "Throw 2 pieces and join them".
The Robin Hopper extended/altered video has much better/more info on extended/sectional, and constructed pieces.
I liked the dvd so much that I've bought it for myself.
The video offers some interesting techniques, but demonstrations are fairly limited in scope (equivalent to a chapter in a book).
Any potter can pick up several great tips! Informative and entertaining.
