This is another great installment from the shop of the Late Great Dave Gingery!! If you have never been exposed to green sand casting this video will give you some basic steps to getting started... It wasn't detailed in developing or milling sand, or in pattern making, but for the basics of how a home made foundry operates, it has some good information in it!!

Too much time was spent on folksy singing and visiting. I rented the DVD for information not entertainment.

Wonderful video! Just a good, down to earth, lesson in green sand casting, with a little humor, & music, & even a big surprise that I'm glad they included. Not a lot about different molding techniques for different shapes & sizes, no core making at all. He only casts a flywheel, but he shows a lot of tools and machines he built with casting,(a lathe, drill press, & metal shaper for ex.) I've done a little sandcasting myself with aluminum, and I'm very glad I rented this video! Oh yeah, you might need to know that aluminum is all that's demonstrated in this casting video.

I have done some very basic aluminum casting nothing like the flywheel. It was Great to see his cope fall out just like mine. Very good basics to go with his books.
