A: Let's say you sign up on the 10th of the month. Your month then runs from the 10th of each month till the 10th of the next month. We'll make sure that you always have three new DVDs to watch in your home. We do it by sending out up to three DVDs during each month.
So, you sign up on the 10th. We mail you three DVDs immediately. If you return one of them a week later, we accept the return, but since we've mailed you three new DVDs this month, we wait until the next month. As soon as the 10th of the next month rolls around, we send you one DVD, so now you've again got 3 DVDs in your home. A week after that, you return two more dvds. We immediately replace them, so that you again have three dvds.
Q: Will my university subscription send me DVDs that I already ordered as a SmartFlix customer?
A: No! We track what you've already rented, and we won't send out duplicates.
Q: What order do I get the DVDs in?
A: We can't promise that you'll get the dvds in exactly the order listed below, but we do absolutely promise that we always send items out in an order that makes sense: you'll never get disk 2 in a set before disk 1. More generally, we use customer feedback to structure the universities in an order that makes sense - basic stuff first, then more advanced topics.

What a great idea -- an easy way to see DVD's and upgrade your skills without spending a fortune. I am a "re-entry" seamstress trying to make my own clothes after years of not sewing. One of my very first DVD's was from the legendary Margaret Islander, and I learned multiple tips from her that have already made my sewing easier and more professional looking.
I think it's also worth noting that Smartflix has the best customer service of any internet business I have dealt with. They are responsive and helpful, and best of all, they are willing to personalize the list of DVD's they will send you, so you can omit those that don't interest you.

The original list for Sewing University included many titles that didn't appeal to me. Smartflix allowed me to completely customize the list so I didn't need to pay for topics I didn't want. I have watched six videos so far and am looking forward to the rest of the list.

I have been getting dvds from the sewing university. I am retired and still sew quite a bit and I am now teaching several people at a small community center. The old saying that it is never too late to learn still applies to me. I find that the information from these dvd's up dates my knowledge of sewing. Some one is always finding better ways to do things. I watch the dvd with a note book and jot down the info I want to remember I can watch the dvd more than once in the time that I have them. If things get crazy I keep them a little longer and get the info that I want out of them. Only one or two of the dvd's were a disappointment. Almost all are worth my time and money.
Love all the different sewing dvds I am able to watch each month. I have learned so many new things from serging to altering a pattern. My dvds are returned to me quickly and I do not have to worry about late fees. It is nice to have extra time to watch such informative dvds.
