With exciting, informative, well shot videos from names like Jimmy Clewes, David Ellsworth, Russ Fairfield, Mike Darlow, Bonnie Klein, and Alan Lacer that you can keep as long as you want, the ability to cancel at any time, and with a low monthly price of just $11.47 for the first month, and $22.95 thereafter , this is a bargain that you can't afford to miss!
Q: How many DVDs do I get at a time?
A: Up to three per month.
Q: Once I subscribe, can I quit?
A: Yes, you can quit at any time at all. Just send us an email and you're out - no more charges, ever.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Just $11.47 for the first month, and $22.95 per month after that . That's a huge savings over the $249.00 or so it would cost to buy three new DVDs each month, and a big savings over the normal rental cost.
Q: How much is shipping?
A: It's free!
Q: How much are late fees?
A: There are never any late fees!
Q: Can you clarify how the "three DVDs out-at-a-time, limit three per month" plan works?
A: Let's say you sign up on the 10th of the month. Your month then runs from the 10th of each month till the 10th of the next month. We'll make sure that you always have three new DVDs to watch in your home. We do it by sending out up to three DVDs during each month.
So, you sign up on the 10th. We mail you three DVDs immediately. If you return one of them a week later, we accept the return, but since we've mailed you three new DVDs this month, we wait until the next month. As soon as the 10th of the next month rolls around, we send you one DVD, so now you've again got 3 DVDs in your home. A week after that, you return two more dvds. We immediately replace them, so that you again have three dvds.
Q: Will my university subscription send me DVDs that I already ordered as a SmartFlix customer?
A: No! We track what you've already rented, and we won't send out duplicates.
Q: What order do I get the DVDs in?
A: We can't promise that you'll get the dvds in exactly the order listed below, but we do absolutely promise that we always send items out in an order that makes sense: you'll never get disk 2 in a set before disk 1. More generally, we use customer feedback to structure the universities in an order that makes sense - basic stuff first, then more advanced topics.
Q: There's a DVD (or two, or three) on the list that I don't want to see - can I subscribe to Woodturner University, but somehow not get that DVD?
A: Sure thing! Just subscribe to the university, then send us an email telling us what DVDs you want to skip.
Q: This is a pretty awesome deal, isn't it?
A: Yes, it is!

I give Woodturner University five stars!
I'm a medium-skilled woodturner, and I find that Woodturner University is invaluable for me - by getting three new woodturning DVDs every month, not only do I learn new techniques and get information on new projects I've never attempted before, but - perhaps more importantly - I get a new kick in the behind every few weeks, reminding me how much fun woodturning is, and keeping me motivated and interested at the lathe!
Woodturner's University is a mixed bag. It can save you money, and it gives you more time to look over and review the content on the DVD's. but the down side is that you get dvd's that are either "fluff" and/or titles that you have no interest in or that you have or already have viewed.(Smartflix does keep track so there are no duplication thru them). So I guess it is mixed, but it does keep you going, by getting those dvd's every month.
It has been something I look forward to receiving and viewing each month . I have written and made suggestions and had quick responses to my suggestions. One of which was to allow an "elective" out of the normal subject matter occasionally.
Keep trying to send related videos together or on sequential shipments. Keep up the good work.
I think the Woodturner University is a good thing.
I like getting all the different dvds that relate to woodturning and the company keeping up with all the dvd's I've already viewed. I look forward to getting more as time goes by and even some other courses not connected with woodturning.
As with any University, there are instructors or classes that I have liked more than others. However, at the Woodturner University, I have the option to fast forward through scenes that are of little interest. I have have yet to do it, but it is nice knowing that I could if I wanted. Before I started at Woodturner University, I thought 5 dvds is all that would be needed to cover the subject. I have received approximately 15 DVDs so far and have enjoyed them all. I am now interested in turning with a human powered lathe instead of the modern sophisticated high horse power electric motors that everyone else covets. A few months ago, I had no idea that such a device ever existed. If you want to look at a topic from multiple perspectives, join a University at SmartFlix. You could be guaranteed to learn while being entertained.
