If you're looking for "nuts & bolts" recipes for metal patinas, you will be dissapointed. If you're wanting to see what potentials are out there for steel and iron, this could be of interest. The usable information for me could have been condensed into a 10 minute segment.

This DVD was highly informative and geared for both pro and beginner. It’s only low spot was trying to maybe cover to much material and take notes.

Along the same format as Ron's hot and cold patinas for copper based alloys, this film illustrates in an interesting manner the application of basic "indoor only" patinas for iron, steel and aluminum. Starting with some basic foundation conversion coatings he then demonstrates the application of acids, salts and other mixtures to produce some very beautiful and useful patinas. He does not go into the "browning" process nor does he talk about the rust and shoepolish patinas for interior steel furnishings but over all a very good film. Ron looks quite young in this film. Maybe its time for a second edition?

Party foul!

This is listed under metal , but 70% of the time is devoted to how to put a patina on some "metal" coating applied over different bases like plaster. Some material on patinas but not anything amazing in the least.

The information on this DVD is really good. Prepare to hit the pause button often so you can write down the different chemicals that he recommends.
