Mr. King explains and demonstrates in the DVD how to hand scrape a 1" x 3" x 12" cast iron bar to 20 points per 1 inch (PPI) and hand 1/2 moon oil flake; he also shows you how to use the Swiss made Biax Scraper imported to the USA by DAPRA. The 2nd part of the video highlights scraping by power to 20 PPI and the last segment explains how to hand and power scrape to 40 PPI. 40 PPI is used in the high precision machines and surface plates. In the DVD he explains the "rotation of points" theory which shows you how to check flatness while scraping, how to use bearing bluing, etc. Most conventional machines an be scraped to 20 PPI.

Well, quite a treat. I've been learning scraping on my own for a few months now.
This video really shows the process in great detail. I'd say 2/3 is hand, 1/3 power.
The animations really help visualize whats happening.
Also, he explains some of the why's in what you are doing.
Its clearly a tape transfer to DVD, but that's life in the big city.
The content is top notch.
The production values are modest but better than most of the educational garbage out there. There's lots of good information and this video doesn't burn two hours of your time to give you twenty minutes of information. After watching the it, I felt like I could actually do precision scraping if I had enough hands on practice. I was hesitant seeing this. Well worth watching.
Very well done. It is just an intro and does not give enough info to really allow you to do a project. I now know that I want to learn more and hope there will be further DVDs. I just can't afford to take a week long class right now. This may be one of the few subjects that you can't really teach your self. Machine scraping and brain surgery.
