I have been gunsmithing for about 5 years. This video gave me some current methods of using a different approach to holding the barrel in the head stock to keep it true to the reamer. Excellent video.

Didn't learn much in this video other than how to keep chips off a shop floor. Gunsmith takes an long time in showing how to set up a barrel on a new Grizzly Gunsmiths Lathe, making sure everything is perfect - Then does a roughing out of the chamber with a standard drill bit which ruins all his previous work as far as accuracy goes. Not worth my time to watch...

A very nice overview and Gordy isn't a half bad instructor either! I liked the little tips he throws in as well.

Good movie. It really seemed a bit like an ad for the grizzly gunsmithing lathe but the more I look at it the lathe really is purpose built, and suited for its purpose. even with a more conventional lathe I think it was very informative.

GORDY DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB OF EXPLAINING WHY THIS METHOD GIVES CONSISTANT RESULTS CHAMBERING 1000 YARD COMPETITION RIFLES , AT FIRST IT SEEMS QUITE UNORTHODOX COMPARED TO JUST INDICATING THE RUN-OUT TO ABSOLUTE ZERO . BUT HE BACKS UP HIS FINDINGS WITH HIS TEST INDICATORS ! . THIS VIDEO IS A SLEEPER I CANT BELIEVE HE GIVES UP THESE TRADE SECRETS. FOR THOSE WHO DIS-BELIEVE THIS METHOD YOU ARE NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT THE BORE IS NOT ALWAYS PERFECT. BUY THE WAY NICE LATHE !!. GREG L.

This was a very helpful and good video. I picked up ideas here that I hadn't thought of. I intend to attempt chambering my second barrel soon and will use many of the ideas shown.

Very helpful; it taught me a lot about how to chamber. I was able to shave off many steps and understand many things that were previously rather confusing.

I come from two perspectives here: as a rank amateur machinist (my lathe has yet to be plugged in!) and as a moderately knowledgeable benchrest shooter. So here goes... Gordy and the folks from Grizzly have put together an exceptional video outlining a sequence of steps that will produce a championship chamber job. For through-the-headstock chambering, this is the method. Now, this video is partly a promo for the Grizzly lathe so the exact technique demonstrated is valid for machines with a narrow headstock (not mine), but the critical steps shown are easily re-interpretted for whatever style of 'smithin' you may have to do based on your equipment. Enjoy!!!
