In this watercolor instructional video, Frank Webb, ADW DF, NWS, quietly paints two complete watercolor paintings from value sketches that were done on site. During his painting process he discusses, in a voice over, the key issues pertinent to his process.
Frank begins by defining his chief purpose for choosing a particular scene. He creates a line drawing that works as a foundation for his juicy watercolor. He discusses light as metaphor, how art is based on insight rather than sight, what he looks for in a painting, what makes a painting successful, making a cohesive whole, figures in a painting, alternation of dark and light, warm and cool, use of push pull, edges, creating depth, calligraphy... and so much more.
Near the end of the watercolor workshop, Frank pulls out several paintings from his portfolio and explains their focus and technique. It is a fascinating overview packed with content. It should be noted that there is a painting of a nude briefly discussed toward the end of the workshop for those of you considering using this film in a classroom setting.
Originally filmed as a motion picture, this classic video is the perfect watercolor DVD for beginners to advanced artists. Frank Webb offers a wealth of knowledge, demonstrations and insightful commentary on several finished paintings. Creative Catalyst Productions is excited to offer this instructional video to our customers.

Excellent teaching dvd.....slow paced with lots of close-ups so you can really see how Webb uses colors and brush movement. Webb's narrative was very helpful and insightful. I would definitely recommend this dvd for anyone who loves to watch watercolor come together into something beautiful.
