I have to admit that the first part of this DVD made me cringe as the presenter made several mistakes, BUT the second half had me enthralled and proved that the presenter obviously knew what he was doing and had a lot of information to impart. I would recommend this DVD.
I was extremely impresses with the dvd instruction, I learned new tricks! Certainly would love to see more future titles from them!
I really enjoyed this title. The production quality was good, though there are some spots hard to see, particularly their attempts to get details on the sodder flame. The author shows a lot of good production tricks from someone who is very comfortable making jewelry. The only real criticism I can think of is the fact he did not mention the fact you don't want to put colored gemstones in either ultrasonic cleaners or steam cleaners. He uses both in his process and a beginner should be wary of those details. Otherwise I have to say this is a great disc for beginner's and there are even some details intermediate level folks would enjoy and find useful.
I am a beginner in metalsmithing, but I know enough to realize how many things were done "wrong" in this DVD. Having said that, I did see a couple of new ideas that I did not know - and so it was worth the money to rent, but boy, am I glad I didn't pay the higher price to buy!
