Traditional Silk: Weaving In Thailand

...with Janet Willoughby

Spinning & Weaving how-to video: Traditional Silk: Weaving In Thailand by Janet Willoughby Review this video!

Isaarn (northeast Thailand) has been a main site of silk worm rearing and weaving; all the processes are carried out by families in this village. View the raising of silk worms, reeling the silk from the cocoons, tying and dyeing for weft ikat, the traditional Thai weaving process on hand-made looms, and the use of pattern heddles for supplementary weft designs. The sarong and scarf weaving is very fine and delicate. The colors and designs woven are amazing to see created on such simple equipment. Filmed entirely in Thailand.
