This could have been a great video, but was missing important elements while other elements should have been left out.

When I watch an instructional video, I want the instructor to inspire and really get me going so that I can apply concepts/skills to my own work. This was not the case. The instructor never introduced himself or even really gave the viewer an idea of what his objectives were for the video. He rarely even addressed/faced the camera. There were very long periods of "dead air" where there was'nt any explanation of what he was doing. There also was only a single visual for the entire video. What about a brief explanation/history of pin up art?

Elements that could have been left out was the rather annoying sound of the compressor popping on and off and the whizzing(turbo?) sound of the airbrush.

I will rarely say negative things unless they really need to be addressed. This video is a lemon. On a positive note, it's the only video I feel I did'nt get my money's worth.

A rating of one is far too generous! Kevin Mayes is probably a master artist but the sad truth is he CANNOT TEACH. Along with the previous review, he did not show mixing of paint, what surface he was painting on and the minor details that are huge details when you start. The first time I watched this video (yes, I watched it twice), I was asleep in ten minutes.

There is little to no instructional value to this DVD. It is like looking over someone's shoulder while they work, with them mumbling an occasional statement of the obvious. If you are looking for a DVD that explains what is being done, and why it is being done a particular way, this is not the one to rent.

The title sounded great when it first appeared on the list of airbrush videos.Alas, itis by no means an Airbrushing Action video, fellow paint shooters.I found I was asking myself, throughout this video, is Kevin teaching us (the audience) the way he approaches and paints a subject or just showing what he can do.And that compressor of his suddenly kicking in and brutally shutting down should have been muffled while taping. Its bloody distracting. On a positive note,I did get one thing out of this dvd on a number of different occasions while watching it -- a good sleep. Next time I'll wait for a Lorenzo Sperlonga dvd when I want to learn about airbrushing a pinup.

There are actual pin-up artists, and some legendary pin-up artists that have video's. Sorayama, Lorenzo Sperlonga, Noah, Mike Learn, Deborah Mahan. Not in any particular order, but they all teach you the classic pinup style and the techniques that are used to create a pinup. This video doesn't offer an 1/8th of the worst of the other videos' if that makes sense.
