This is a wonderful instructional dvd. I would highly recommend it to the more advanced student. Robert Johnson is a very gifted artist and instructor. He doesn’t hold anything back. Also, the extended length of the gallery painting sessions seems much more helpful than the usual one sitting style video.

Super great video, full of information and insights, Robert Johnson is the consummate teacher and painter. Enjoyed every minute of it, even though it required some stamina toward the end, because real works of art require a great deal of fine tuning, and am glad we, as viewers, are allowed to see that, too. Many folks think paintings are created in a flash, and this is a good reminder that it takes time, concentration and a great deal of dedication. I did think that a tiny bit of the "freshness" was lost toward the end, and I count that as part of the learning experience as well. Robbyn Holmes, Virginia

This was a great informative video. However, thru the first part the artists hand covered his brush strokes. It would have been nice to see. The next video I see this has been corrected. Thanks.

The video is excellent for it's complete rendering of the painting process. It barely skips over anything. The painting is terrific in it's own right. Highly recommended!!

I loved the DVD by Robert A Johnson #1. Mr. Johnson is a great teacher and I love his style. It has already opened my eyes and brush to a richer way of painting.

Love this guy! I learned a lot from watching this video and am attempting to put some of what I've learned into practice, but it is harder than it looks! He makes it look so easy. Also, this is a pretty busy still life, so I'm going to start with something a little easier. But with that said, his explanation and commentary during the painting process is very informative. Most of the time you can really see exactly what he is doing, from mixing paint to applying it. His style of applying paint is very careful without any wasted strokes. Would love to take a workshop with him and have already ordered another of his dvds.

I could watch him paint all day (and with this set I just about did as it's over 7 hours total). What a master artist, generous teacher and gentleman!
