Very well produced and detailed rebuild of a Chevrolet V-8 engine.

Process oriented, logical workflow is explained.

Great footage of the type of work you can do yourself at-home and the stages of work jobbed out to the machine shop.

Newbie or advanced will learn from this title.

There was a tremendous amount of information packed into this video - far more than I was expecting. Incredible animation, leisurely photographed assembly and disassembly instructions, and a great menu system made this an amazing view. A highlight is a marine engine that when the oil drain plug was removed exuded a goop that looked like taffy! All in all a highly recommended video.

Very detailed. Good DVD production quailty, with a ton of features to navigate through. Made me decide to send my engine out to be remanufactured instead of trying to do it myself!

Great! I watch it several times. I realize taking the breaken down parts of the engine to a machine shop for cleaning and machining could save me time and perhaps money, but I'm very much interested during the job myself, at least for the first time just to see how its done and the do-it-yourself hand tools, just to get the feel of the amount of work and precision involve. I did some homework, and realize rebuilding a engin (cleaning and machineing)is not a rush job or a hour or two event, it would take several days and depending on time available.

Absolutely amazing, among the best I've seen in terms of cars, not to mention engines.

Great Video! A step by step walkthrough packed with useful advice. I only wish they spent less time detailing the process in the machine shop.

No stone left unturned. It covered everything in great detail. It was so full of valuable information that I ended up buying a copy of my own. Certainly worth renting if you've thought that you'd like to do an engine rebuild yourself. Highly recommended.

This is a well thought out and organized presentation on generic engine rebuilding. I thought the tool and supplies information was a more like a plug for specific vendors.

If you work on your own cars, this video is just what you need to complete a successful engine rebuild. It takes you thru pulling an engine (with or without transmission), disassembly, what parts to replace, taking parts to a machine shop, assembly, and starting the engine up for the first time. The dvd contains lots of useful tips along the way like using the correct lubes and adhesives, familiarization with special tools and acceptable alternatives, and work arounds for problems that might arise during a rebuild. The dvd was very well thought out and produced, too. After watching this, I would feel much more comfortable rebuilding my own engine rather than picking up an engine exchange from some place and not knowing exactly what went into the rebuild. Highly recommended.

Good DVD. A bit dated, but very useful for learning engine rebuilding in general

Goodness, where to start.

Thorough. Amazing. Clear.

From opening the hood to finally turning the key, this video does it all.

Almost bolt for bolt.

I also really enjoyed the trip to the machine shop where they did all kinds of grinding and fitting on the block.

This is, IMHO, how a how-to video should be. Broken into tons of chapters and navigates like a webpage.

Even if you don't wanna rebuild an engine, it teaches so much that its a great learning experience for any how-to'r.

Very informative video, especially for the beginner. Even though there were some shameless plugs for tools, etc...the items offered will definitely help the first time engine builder stay organized and keep everything in place. The DVD format was great with extra tabs loaded with info...would recommend.

Good video production but narration sounds immature and unprofessional. Full of advertisement time for the obvious sponsors. Good information for the complete novice.

This is an extremely well produced instructional video! OK, the cheesy "space music" soundtrack doesn't help, but it is kept at a low enough volume not to distract either. Every attempt is made to keep the pace such that the processes are easily followed. The menu system makes it very easy to resume to or review specific areas. I would recommend it to anyone interested in understanding the process more clearly than seen on the television shows that cover rebuilding in much less detail.

Best video so far on SmartFlix! Ordered this video when I thought I might have a "minor" problem with the Blazer. Ended up having to pull the engine and do a full rebuild. This video was essential to the process. It saved me on several small but vital things my manual overlooked. Very well presented and professionally done.
