I was really looking forward to viewing this DVD. I love this artists work. I think she is a better artist than a teacher.
This was well worth renting. I love the simplistic way Janet painted the flowers and how she handles mistakes - it's like - oops it's nothing to get excited about - then she calmly changes it or wipes it out. The other thing I found inspiring is how she organizes her palettes. I worked on something similar but not to that extent. It makes sense how she has all her "ingredients" right before her so she can jump right in there and get started. It was also interesting how she does color swatches. This video made me want to go out and buy some flowers to paint them (I usually do landscapes).
I loved watching this dvd, and wish I could see more of this artist. It is not as professionally made as some I've watched, though. The biggest complaint I had is that I never got to see, from the painters angle, the still life setups she was working from.
This is the perfect "free yourself up" video. Having solid drawing experience is an asset to this style even though the style is very loose and free. A true unselfish artist who is an excellent teacher. Well worth renting but in my opinion not for the very beginner unless they can be totally free and not worried about getting everything where it "should be".
All the Watercolor Floral are beautiful, so I would like learn made the flowers and more.

Janet Rodgers, has a very different approach to watercolor painting. Her work is very impressive. I enjoyed this DVD very much and recommend it to watercolorists to learn a different way of doing things.
