An introduction to the Flux Core Arc Welding process, covering both self shielded and gas shielded flux cored welding wires.
Self Shielded Flux Core welding wires provide a wire feed process that can be used inside or outside of the shop... General purpose self shielded welding wires are a good choice for the smaller wire feed welding machines.
This video focuses on fundamental welder skills. Extremely close-up video of actual welds, with detailed explanations, demonstrate how the voltage and wire speed settings, electrode extension, gun angle, and travel speed affect penetration, the shape, and the size of the weld. Also included are weld joints, metal preparation, and joint fit-up.
Flux Core Arc Welding also provides a "working knowledge" of constant voltage power sources, wire feed units, and the unique characteristics of flux cored welding wires. Understanding the technical aspects of FCAW is an important part of setting up the equipment to provide the correct amount of weld, with good penetration and weld fusion. For beginners and intermediate welders.

this was a pretty good video, it covered a lot of things, and as a beginner I found it very helpful at explaining a lot of things from what the wire designation numbers mean, to making multiple pass welds, electrode extension, wire speed, etc.
I don't know how helpful it would be to someone who has a good amount of experience in welding but if your a beginner like me I would recommend it.
This video is excellent. It's kind of funny how the speaker is wearing full welding gear even though you never see him weld anything and he's leaning toward the camera at such a steep angle that you feel like he's going to lunge at you. In any event, the info presented is first rate and takes a lot of the mystery out of getting good results. There are a lot of shots of welds being made and the camera work and illustrations are excellent, clearly showing the weld puddle and how the gun needs to be moved. There is no hand-out to accompany this DVD, and he presents a lot of specific recommendations for wires to use for specific materials, so it would be a good idea to have a pad around to take a few quick notes so that you don't have to watch the whole thing over again to answer a few specific questions. A++
Video was ok from an information standpoint but did not contain any actual welding instruction.
I got a 110v 90 amp flux wire welder (MIG100)the other day, for any beginner, my suggestion is to play this DVD and focus exclusively on chapter 11 to chapter 15 on the menu. Play with the welding machine, watch and analyze these chapters back & forth again and again could gain and solve a lot of 'mystery' out of it.
Excellent training film. I would recommend it for any beginner
I liked it very much, easy to order and return. Quality of picture and instruction very good.
Well presented and fast paced. The videos of the welds in progress are amazing. While useful for the beginner, this is really aimed at people with welding experience who are picking up flux core as a new technique. Starting out, it isn't NEARLY that easy.
The video was very informative. Great for beginners and home welders like myself. I highly recommend it.
Like the other welders who have watched this DVD, I think it's very good and completely worth renting. Camerawork and production are excellent for this kind of video. I especially like the way he covers joint preparation and proper fitup.
This flux core video is much farther ahead of the written instructions that came with the welder. It gave me something to watch, then go and practice. I would recommend this video to flux core beginners.
Anyone interested in flux core or MIG welding, can benifit from this DVD. It is very well explained and very easy to understand. I highly recommend it.
Great close ups. Just what I needed to make it all click. I also like the way the narrator looks like he's going to lunge at your neck with his gloved hands in parts of it... adds to the excitement.
Excellent video - He looks like he is going to jump into the camera though. Good coverage of the material and explained a lot for me
The instructions were somewhat helpful.
I am a novice welder. The material immediately pointed out some of the errors in my technique and use of equipment. There is a lot of material covered in a short time, so you will have to watch it several times to pickup the details. I took notes the 3rd time I watched it. If you have a small wire feed welder and are just fixing things and doing small projects around the house, this will help you weld it right the first time.
