Chapter 1 - Traditional Western Leather Carving

This 60 minute program contains a brief history of how western leather carving got started in North America and covers the basics of all leather carving techniques. How to select and prepare leather, pattern development and tracing techniques, and use and care of the swivel knife, basic stamping techniques and more.

Chapter 2 - Carving Oak Leaves

A short history of the many styles of oak leaves used throughout the years by leathercrafters showing the versatility and variations possible. Included in the program are: several border options, how to develop your own designs, two different leaf styles, special matting techniques and finishing with a resist antiquing stain method.

Chapter 3 - Carving Roses

Two styles of roses are presented. The American Beauty Rose and the Wild Rose. Two methods of tooling rose leaves and the background/matting techniques not shown on previous programs.

Chapter 4 - Basket Weave and Geometric Stamping

Secrets of how to layout and stamp with various basketweaving tools are presented, as well as layout borders. Creating your own basketweave designs, combined with carving patterns and several geometric stamping ideas.
