To be honest, this video seemed a bit more dull than the other AGI Armorer Courses I have rented. But that is made up for by the wealth of information and knowledge Robert Dunlap imparts on the viewer (i.e. everything you need to know, seriously, it's in this video). I suppose I do find revolvers "a bit more dull" than semi-autos but I still give this video 5 out of 5 stars.
This video is an excellent video if you are interested in learning the function of the S&W revolver and basic maintenance with minor gunsmithing information. It does cover tuning and timing very well. It spends a little too much time with cleaning the gun and is seriously lacking in some gunsmith areas such as removing end-shake which was just very lightly touched on. There were no discussions on crane alignment, barrel replacement, or anything about cutting forcing cones, etc.
This was a good video in that it showed, in detail, how to strip down an S&W revolver and put it back together - it also went into some detail on cleaning, how one checks timing, and how to slick up the action.
It falls short of being a true "armorer's" course in that it spends FAR too much time showing the presenter cleaning the revolver's internal components, and, rather than SHOW how to correct and/or adjust timing, there's a verbal description (". . . this is what you do . . ."). For example, the presenter talks about bending and refitting the hand, but he doesn't actually DO it himself on the DVD.
