I loved this video. It is extremely helpful teaching aid. Great quality instructions delivered by the master himself. Dane uses simple language, without going into details about muscles and bones and helps you train your eye. This video is a must see, real treasure.

The video was not what I expected at all. It was poorly filmed and mostly theory. May be useful for experienced sculptors, but not for me.

Wayne is an excellent sculptor and a nice guy.

I learned a few things, but I think this would be for a more advanced sculptor. Its production quality is poor, but I must stress this. If you want to do 1/6 or 1/8th scale it is truly good to see how other artists do what they do.

I think what came through more than anything was learning to be very patient. Wayne is less methodical and more an artist.

This could have been a great DVD. However when the camera did closeup shots, the angle was not adjusted and all you could see was his hand and not the work he was doing. Something else that I found very distracting was the music that was supposed to be in the background, but it was so loud that you could not hear what he was saying and became a distraction. I believe he is a very good artist, but the video was lacking professional techniques in the way that is was shot.

The thing that i hated the most was the first 5 min were copyright warnings. Then he immediately starts the LOUD mood music. It's the same 5 Enya songs, over and over in random order. I hope he didn't violate Her copyright. Skip the first chapter. It's some pretty boring theory, and seemed to pretty useless. He does get to doing something in the second chapter. With clips stolen from a tv channel as reference Once again, this wouldn't offend me if it weren't for all his warning at the beginning. Maybe the copyrights were supposed to be a joke. He then starts a head from scratch. He gives several tips on how to get started and a few on his technique. About half way through sculpting the head of Mel Gibson you can hear him utter, "that doesn't look very good" Then he starts covering up all the work he did with new clay over the top. I guess this video is supposed to teach us patients.

Misses: Ultra low production value, with many cuts, and blank screens. Often we are left staring at the model for a min with nothing happening. I got a queasy feeling after watching the camera trying to focus for several minutes on one of the heads(Most video cameras have a manual focus if you bother to find out how to use it). LOUD mood music. Bad camera angles. Few tips, just a do it and feel it. The author worrying about his copyrights, while stepping on everyone else's. Next time, just turn on an easy listening radio station very quietly.

Pluses: One of the few videos that cover this subject. Author is a true artist. The few tips that are given are great tips.

Overall: I'm still glad i rented it, as the few tips the video gave were excellent. If i had purchased it, I'm pretty sure i would have been pretty disappointed. Although not on likenesses "Sculpting a Polymer figures for Beginners, with Patricia Rose" is a lot better choice.
