Japanese Woodcut Workshop

...with Izumi Kuroiwa

Misc Crafts how-to video: Japanese Woodcut Workshop by Izumi Kuroiwa 5_bulb Review this video!

Think of this professionally made video as a week-long workshop plus a refresher course you can watch any time you like.

Watching a skilled artist create a moku hanga print is what most printmakers need to understand how Japanese printmaking done. Ms. Kuroiwa is a master of her craft, and her love and quiet enthusiasm for printmaking is contagious. As a teaching aid, an introductory lesson, or a refresher course for more experienced printers, this step-by-step video is truly invaluable.

Detailed enough to get you started on your own.

Does a good job of describing the Japanese woodblock print process, but only one precise method used by that artist. There are other technologies & methodologies. Production values could use some help. It looked like the DVD was made from an old film.
