It was somewhat interesting to watch another sculptor at work, and Mark Alfrey is a fairly good sculptor, but there really was not a lot of educational value to this video. It seemed rather blatantly an excuse for Mark to sculpt an attractive nude model, and for viewers to have the opportunity to oggle at a stereotypical implant-enhanced buxom blonde. I found little to recommend this and certainly won't be adding it to my permanent collection of DVDs; I actually fast-forwarded through large chunks of it, including several "conversations" with the model that had nothing at all to do with sculpting and weren't particularly interesting to me.

If you're really looking to learn to sculpt people, I'd pass on this one and recommend that you check out John Brown's series of videos put out by the Gnomon Workshops, or Philippe Faraut's portrait sculpting videos, all of which are excellent and educational and should be part of the library of anyone who is serious about sculpting.

Contrary to the other reviewer's comments, there was only a brief discussion with the model at the beginning while she was still robed. I felt it added to the experience so that you knew you were sculpting a real person. I do agree that I would not have chosen a model who is "implant enhanced". One of the nice things about figure sculpting/drawing/etc is appreciating the natural form, I would have preferred an un-enhanced model.The video moved along nicely and I appreciated the side-by-side recap of the various stages at the end. I thought the camera positioning could be better. The camera frequently got only part of the model and the sculpture. I would've preferred it got the scupture and the model at the same time as he worked so that you can watch him and compare what he's looking at as he makes changes.

High quality video on how Mark sculpts the figure. This video is appropriate for viewer who are already familiar with how to make an armature and handle clay. I was most interested in the series of steps that an experienced sculpture uses in creating a finished product. Excellent

R-Rated malarkey.

Mark Alfrey is a great sculptor, but this video is the pits. He barely explains what he is doing and when he does talk he is exceedingly vague. Many times the sculpture is eclipsed by Mark's head during the sculpting process so all you learn is that he isn't going bald yet.

Why is the silicon enhanced “Performance Artist” interviewed twice? Why are there “Bloopers” after the credits of her dancing and jiggling around like a go-go girl? Yeah, she seems nice, but talking to the model provided no pertinent information what-so-ever.

This video is marketed as a instructional video, but really only serves as a showcase of Mark Alfrey's considerable talent. It would have been better as a showcase of his talent if the camera angle had shown both the model and the sculpture in the same frame or even a split screen.

What I learned from this video:

* Mark Alfrey is a decent sculptor. * Her implants are too large and make her nipples look painfully stretched. * I'm glad I only rented this video.

This was awful, just short of skeevy with porno music and artificial boobs that he adjusted to make look natural, and there was very little instruction, it was an hour of watching him sculpt and give smarmy looks ick.
