For a well trained family dog. This video has everything the famous book has and much more! Acclaimed by top professional dog trainers and major American publications, this video is for the dog lover who wants a well behaved companion fast and wants to train it him/herself. Its time proven techniques are so simple even a child can use them.
Based upon Richard A. Wolters' five critical periods, "Family Dog" shows the many dog breeds which are good for the family and it details the six tests to use to choose the right puppy in the litter. This top quality video then illustrates crate-training to rapidly housebreak your puppy. The remainder of the teachings show you how to teach the basic commands of sit, stay, come, let's go, heel, kennel, no and down in great detail. These commands are learned very rapidly using food treats as a proven motivator for your dog. All of this is wrapped in an entertaining story of two neighbors competing to have the best trained dog. The story makes the training fun and exciting. You'll love it!!
We highly recommend "Family Dog" to hunters because the basic commands are extremely important and are the foundation of every working dog. However, it is tailor made for the dog owner who wants a well trained family dog.
Now, with "Family Dog," have the well trained dog you've always wanted in a few short weeks. Everyone loves a well behaved dog. With this video, you can take your dog anywhere without a leash. You will have a dog who will come happily when called and stay where you want him/her to stay.

Mixed review.
The dog training techniques shown are excellent - but you have to get past the bizzare family that they use for the examples. It is pretty strange to have the training "expert" live on the TV set and interact with the members of the family in their living room ....
But, I think the training methods they show are probably very sound and I'll use some of them.
