Trees have figured into much of the sculptures that have been produced over the years. Many of trees have be used in scenes, for example the bicycle sculptures or the more rural Americana scenes with barns and covered bridges. The trees have also been excellent stand alone wall sculptures, whether in groupings or individually.
What is amazing about these trees is that they are based on one simple concept that can be expanded into a wide variety of trees. You can take one of these trees that would be fitting for a casual setting and produce a tree or trees that fit perfectly into a formal setting. These trees also work well for offices and conference centers.
Also included are how to make two tools that you can use while making the trees and also for other sculptures.
The first is a small parts leverage bender. This may take a little time to make, but it will reduce your bending time by two thirds. An arc bender that you find easy to make and a tools that can be used on any piece that requires sweeping curves, such as the Large HighWheel Bicycle or the Maple Leaf Sculptures. An oxygen acetylene torch and the ability to braze are the main requirements. Materials costs are minimal and the rod that you need is readily available at your welding supply.

A very interesting video about what you can do with a minimum of shapes of some gas welding rod.You should have some working knowledge of gas welding, brazing and shop work. As the basics are not covered in this DVD. But it will cover the subject matter like a blanket like his other video's. Still my only complaint about this and his other videos is that not enough time is given to display of finished items. Talking about a display grouping of three large trees is one thing, a nice clip of them on a wall would as they say a picture is worth a 1000 or 2 words. I am a fan of George and his other videos.
Very useful if you want to make trees in the same style as Mr. Goehl. Probably worth skipping otherwise. The video was well made and not boring, but there really isn't much information here that will be useful outside of it's very narrow topic. Even things like brazing and such are not really covered in depth, presumably since he assumes you have already watched his other videos.
I rented this based on the other reviewer's comment of the leverage bender, but was disappointed. The bender is useful, but also quite simple and not worth renting the video for by itself.
But beyond these criticisms, the video is called "Trees, Trees, Trees", and it definitely delivers on what it promises. You will learn exactly how to build three different scales of trees (all in the same style, though). Just don't expect to learn much beyond that topic. Rent some of Mr. Goehl's videos first, and if you like them then consider renting this one.
