Review this video!
Chris Evans had the opportunity spend a day in Bruce Evans’ knife shop, and he watched as Bruce forged out a spike tomahawk from a round bar of 5160 spring steel. He was so impressed with the process that he wanted to go back and document Bruce as he forged out another one. This time, he took his mini-dv camera with him, and as a result, he was able to produce this DVD.
See bladesmith Bruce Evans as he demonstrates how to make a frontier style tomahawk. You will get to watch Bruce from the first blow of the hammer to the final oiling of the finished hawk.
The video covers:
* Forging the tomahawk head from a round bar of steel * Cleaning up the tomahawk head on the grinder * How to make your own hawk handle from a piece of wood * And how to finish and dress up the tomahawk
(about 100 minutes)

I felt this video was excellent from beginning to end. The blacksmith takes you from a piece of raw steel to a finished product in a fine fashion. Excellent product and the video was great too. This video will help keep the art of blacksmithing alive and tool making for a long time.
Very rustic forging, not too bad, but with arms the size of this guy, I could move a lot more metal than he did, and to see his power hammer that was maybe a 25 - 50 lb (little giant?) run like it was a sick and tired 5 pounder was sad.
