The video is great. He really knows his colors and its worth renting just for that. My only complaint how he recomends cutting the tranfer paper off the art work and then moving the cut section back to the art work. In the video and in real life this is a nitemare. Just just sharp knives and cut on the art work once. But that is my only compaint about this fine DVD. Highly recomended!
This video is ALL BUSINESS. This is one of those rare DVDs (like many of Craig Fraser's) where the Instructor makes everything look so easy, you want to run out and paint right away! There's nothing here an amateur cannot grasp. It's sad that this painter has passed away because he was a fantastic teacher.
Great Video, Good Use of learning to use your stencil to give your art a free hand look, great use of shadowing and use of colors, It is sad the the artist passed away, Definatly worth renting
Blackdog is one heck of an ab artist. He will be missed. I've never watched any of his vids before. I would have to say this was still a descent instructional vid. It explains using several different stencils to achieve the dynamic lighting effect. I don't know why he kept going over the yellow and white multiple times, but the end result speaks for itself. Definitely worth renting if your into learning shadowing and light. Mike
The video "dynamic lighting f/x" was excellent, and would recommend it for anybody; a beginner or professional. It pretty much shows all forms of different ways of showing DETAIL. If you can paint what he painted the way he did, then you can paint just about anything. I might rent it again if I don't buy it first! Thanx, Rosco
I gave it a 3 because 2 1/2 wasn't available and 2 was a little low. With a title like Dynamic Lighting effex (F/X) I expected to see multiple ways to render a project with different lighting. All he did was paint a skull. The speaker is upbeat and his artwork was excellent, but this DVD didn't show anything more about lighting than any of Craig Fraziers DVD's. Heck, I rented Intro to Airbrushing and thought it was a better DVD educationaly than the lighting DVD.
His work is excellent and he does show some good techniques, but if you are looking for a DVD that shows multiple ways to create dynamic lighting, this one isn't it.
