After teaching painting in several trade schools and to hundreds of helpers and technicians in my shop over the last 30+ years, Len has seen the need for people to understand the basics before they pick up the spray gun. As a result, he has produced a 2 hour video "Spray Painting 101" that shows and tells the beginner many of the variables that should be understood before, during, and after the spray gun comes into play. After all, why re-invent the wheel by making all the mistakes that have already been made?
"Spray Painting 101" contains more than just the following information.:
Tools and equipment
Breathing requirements and masks. Spray guns - Gravity vs. Siphon feed Sanding blocks and hand tools etc. etc.
Materials Sandpaper - Purpose and grits, wet and dry Tapes - Common masking and special use types Paint - Variables in different products i.e.. acrylic lacquer, enamel and urethanes.
Surface Prep Variables prior to priming that effect outcome Priming and guide coating Block sanding and analysis Masking for top coating Some variables to look for Two-tone masking before clear coat
Spray painting Gun adjustments Application variables Single stage and two stage finishes
Finishing Color sanding for flatness
Buffing Compounds and techniques to use to finish the job.

This answered most of the questions I had. It gave lots of information on types of paints and other useful things. Both types of paint guns & how disassemble, clean & use them. Plus the other stuff involved in auto painting. Great video.
Very dated material. Some information was OK. Unbelievably poor production quality. I seriously can't believe a company would let this DVD out for public viewing. I'm not kidding when I say junior high school kids could produce a better quality product.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME..USE YOUR MONEY ON PAINT YOUR CAR BY KEVIN TETZ Don't waste your time. Use your money to rent 'Paint Your Car'.
Great video - helps out a lot and is very detailed. I would recommend this video to anyone trying to learn.
This was a basic yet informative look at automotive spray painting. It had a lot of good information, however some portions that I was really hoping would help me with my current project were quickly skimmed over (color sanding and buffing). Overally I would give this video a 7 out of 10.
I just found about this website, and my first DVD rental was Spray Painting 1O1, and I wasn't too sure how this DVD would turn out, but it was a great DVD, with lots of information, and I look forward to the next DVD.
I have never painted a car and found this video to be very helpful.
Excellent - very informative - one of the best
Good content, but poor production quality. If you want to learn how to sand, prime, and paint with 2-part automative finishing materials and have no previous experience painting, you'll find this tape useful and informative.
Len Stuart is a great guy. His website AUTOBODYSTORE.COM is a great place to get your auto painting questions answered. The forums are incredible for providing access to painting professionals and to Len himself.
Its old and Outdated 1991 Vintage painting.. Not the best video either.. It has the basics covered, but I highly recomend Paintucation Series over this!
