Masters of the Barebow is really cool to watch. Most videos deal with compounds, FITA shooting, sites, etc. Its great to watch a video that covers traditional recurve techniques. And to see so many different styles of shooting. There is a lot of hunting footage in the video too which some folks might not like but others will really enjoy. Personally, I don't find it offensive, but it isn't my thing. But every one of the archers are amazing to watch and have a lot of knowledge to pass on.
Great DVD. Much better than Hitten'em Like Howard Hill.
This is the most informative video I've seen covering many of the bare bow shooting styles for long bows and recurves. It lifts the cloud of mystery from many of the "aiming techniques" in use and guides the archer on the path to success. I highly recommend this video.
Excellent Information.. Picked up some much needed tips and troubleshooting... A must watch for an Archer, all types..
This falls into the category of tapes that are as entertaining as informative. A lot of very good shooters demonstrate their techniques, and almost anyone is likely to find some new tips to work on. The barebow, mostly in this case what one might call the American instinctive style, shooters do not have a consistent core method. This tends to suggest that the fundamentals of this method have not really been developed or agreed to. The same is not true in other areas of archery. This tape shows that problem clearly.
A number of the shooters also have severe style problems, bad releases being the most common.
This is a credentialed group of seriously good shooters, but watchers should be critical and skeptical of what they see, and the format really encourages that approach since the shooter are all pretty different.
It is like watching golf in the Trevino era, not the current Tiger Woods one where all the top pros pretty much have increasingly similar fundamentals and style, if not the same coach.
Very informational about all aspects of traditional archery, bow setup, finger positioning, bow acessories. Makes you want to go and shot like the pros. Well worth the rental fee.
