A few useful tips but this is more for those looking to make knives to sell to public. I was more interested in making one or two for my own use. Techniques include the use of a heavy duty forge, power hammer, etc. If you are just wanting a knife or two for yourself, look for a different video.

This was a very instructive video, with lots of close-ups and helpful techniques. This guy seems to know what hes doing and he is very good at showing you how-to do it, but I would have liked to see more on the grinding process on the knife. Otherwise, it was a great video, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to make a basic knife.

Very informative for the beginning bladesmith. Lots of good information to get you started. Ed Caffery goes through the basic forging process for a hidden tang and full tang knife. Includes annealing, edge quenching, heat treating for several types of steel. Does not cover stainless. Does not cover grinding or making the handle.

This was a pretty good video and pretty well produced. However most of us that are going to be starting out aren't going to be forging our blades from new barstock, nor are we going to be using power hammers or hydraulic presses. It would have been nice to see more forging and less talking. Sure it's cool to see a shop that has the best equipment, but for us that do this as a hobby I think time would have been better spent showing us more about forging using scrap metal and an anvil rather than using the power tools. I would recommend knifemaking with Willie White over this one for the beginner and hobbiest. While it's a beginner video, it really doesn't focus on using the things a beginner has at their disposal. But don't get me wrong, there is still good information in there.

Good basic intro to Bladesmithing. There are certainly times when the smith does not explain some of his terminology and assumes you know it (which doesnt seem correct for an intro video) but all and all if your interested in bladesmithing this is as good a place to start as any.

Very Good!! Basic forging of a blade. No information on grinding, finish, or handles but first rate in what it covers

Pretty informative. I was a bit disappointed at the production quality. They should have had a microphone on Ed Caffrey, the presenter. It was a bit difficult to hear him much of the time.

Nice guy, good work, bad video. Hard to hear what he is saying and the information is lacking if some one wanted to use this video to get started in bladesmithing.

The volume is soooooo low that you can't hear it which kills the usability of the video.
