Thank you so much for the Bill Janney dvds....I am kind of knew at this and learned a lot....With a TV right at my carving bench I really got into the fine detail and worked along doing my carving at the same time...Would recommend all of his carving dvds to anyone doing relief carving...
Excellent DVD on basket weave carving. Now I know how to do it the proper way - Thanks to Bill Janney. I urge any one that is interested in the basker weave pattern to try this.
The video was informative but the camera work left a lot to be desired. I couldn't see much of the carving due to the camera angle. Plus a lot of the time his hand was in the way. His work is absolutely wonderful but the video could have been better.
This review is for the fish scale DVD. This DVD is suppose to be about carving fish scale, but he didn't getdvd into that till 30 minutes into the 50 minute DVD. The first half hour was spent talking about and carving something else. Some close ups while he was carving would have helped a lot. I should also add that this DVD is entirely about using a high speed rotary tool, there is no talk of using chisels.
