Once you begin viewing "Potpourri Of Polymer Clay Techniques," with Donna Kato, you'll want to grab your clay and tools, roll up your sleeves, and start implementing the techniques she teaches you right away.
You'll enjoy following along as Donna teaches you five different techniques she's developed for turning polymer clay into beautifully crafted projects. You'll find the new clays to be incredibly user friendly, and "cure" right in your home oven within minutes.
After a brief introduction to the tools and materials you'll need, Donna demonstrates the first technique: Mokume Gane, a method borrowed from Japanese metal workers. She'll take you step by step from conditioning the clay, through twisting, folding, and kneading three colors together to form a variety of layers. You'll then watch as Donna wraps the clay around a bead, and slices away at it to reveal the colorful layered look that makes Mokume Gane so exquisite.
This is what Donna calls "the fun part." "Every time you slice," she says, "it reveals the layers below. This isn't very predictable and that's part of the fun!"
The second technique is called Crushed Ikat... a technique that creates brush-like designs in the clay. In this section you'll learn how to prepare sheets of black and gold polymer clay to create a checkerboard cane. This cane will then be used to make what Donna calls a Tiger Bracelet.
Once you master Crushed Ikat, you'll go on to the Kaleidoscope Cane, another simple but impressive technique. Here you'll mold a cylinder of clay into a triangle, cover it with "snakes" of different colored clay, and turn a simple ballpoint pen into a writing instrument that's sure to inspire your latent skills as an author.
The most amazing part of it all is how easy it is to accomplish these techniques. You'll marvel at how these simple procedures transform common clay into such gorgeous objects. Chances are you'll find yourself saying, "I can't wait to try that myself!"
If you've never known what to do with your scraps of clay, you'll want to pay close attention as Donna shows you the fourth technique on this tape: the Marbled Paper Effect. Here you'll use what she affectionately refers to as a "hunk" of clay to decorate an acrylic picture frame to show off and highlight your photos.
The final technique in "Potpourri Of Polymer Clay Techniques" is called the Translucent Jelly Roll. This is a technique that gives the clay a wood-like finish. Once again Donna takes you step by step through rolling the clay, combining it with gold leaf, cutting and molding it to create an egg that even Faberge would be proud to display.
Following the techniques on this video will turn you into a Clay Master in no time at all. And you'll be proud to display your potpourri of finished products which look like they took years to create. But no one has to know how fun and easy it really was. That's a secret you'll never have to reveal.

It was ok for me... some of her technigues I felt she needed to give a little more detail.. I first saw her demo on beads on the Carol Duvall show and she was awesome so I thought I rent the CD..
