Retro Rags: Funky Fabric Books

...with Traci Bautista

How-To Video: Retro Rags: Funky Fabric Books by Traci Bautista 5_bulb Review this video!

Join mixed media artist Traci Bautista's class as she teaches a day long workshop in creative collage books, or "retro rags" at the Art & Soul Retreat at Asilomar, California. The process is fun and fast, perfect for students of all ages. You see how to dye a variety of cloth and paper, make and use stamps and stencils, transfer images, assemble mini collage covers, stitch in designs, create your own doodles and assemble the pages in a secure decorative latch-hook spine. Traci shows you more ways to put stuff on paper on fabric than you can imagine. She dots it on, brushes it on, mushes, inks, scrapes, rolls, crushes, dabs, stamps, stencils, squishes, pushes, presses, spiders it on, markers, punches, iron on transfers, writes, glues, sponges, pokes, collages, photocopies, sews, cuts, punches........(you get the point). Traci Bautista finds new ways to use everyday materials; she's an inspirational creative dynamo.

I took one of her classes and still wanted to see the DVD to refresh my memories on some of her techniques. Lots of ideas on this DVD and she uses inexpensive items for her art. Definitely worth watching. Helped me to "loosen up" a bit and not be so exact in my art.

I enjoyed this dvd far more than I expected to. Tracy had some fast , easy techniques she shared for making background pages using inexpensive easily found items. While the finished product wasn't quite my speed , I knew that before I rented the DVD - it was watching her process and picking up some information that interested me , and I got more than I hoped for.
