This DVD shows Margaret Islander making a shirt with a convertable banded collar.
1. Opening and Introduction 2. Pattern preparation and cutting tips. 3. Interfacing. What kind of interfacing to use where, how to sew and fuse it professionally. 4. Pocket and front facing. Basically a recoup of the technique shown on DVD 1. 5. Yokes. 6. 2 Piece collars with band. Sewing and pressing.
This was a well done DVD. There were a lot of the techniques that were reviewed from DVD #1. This DVD would introduce you to shirt making.
I found this DVD very easy to follow...great tips!
These two DVDs are great for anyone who is interested in making a traditional collared shirt, whether for men or women. Although this was filmed several years ago, the info is timeless and the production value is very good. I found the information on hand positioning and sewing without pins particularly helpful.
There is an old saying that goes," keep it simple stupid!". That is exactly what she has done with this instructional dvd. I used to make things so hard for myself until I rented the dvd. I did not realize how much time i wasted by pinning my fabric. I also did not realize how much control I did not have over my fabric by pinning. She also teaches you proper hand position, which also helps in relation to the feeddogs. I highly recommend anyone who wants to be considered a professional instead of a home sewer to rent these dvd's.
This dvd revolutionized the way I sew. Pay no attention to the styles, it is the *techniques* that matter, and these techniques will improve your sewing, whether you are making exactly the shirt Margaret Islander is making, or if you are making a knockoff of something you saw on the runway yesterday. Fantastic teaching style, shot clearly from good angles, well thought-out, and thorough. Set up the DVD player in front of your sewing machine and sew along with this dvd, and your sewing will improve by leaps and bounds!
I would recommend this to anyone who would like to sew and easy way shirt. Industrial Shortcuts 11: Shirts, Disc 1 and 2. I learned a lot from this , easy.
This would be a very good DVD for the beginner.
Really good dvd, tells you even how to where to place your hands when sewing to make it easier and have greater control. only thing is I only rented the fast one so I was irate when I realize more stuff was on the 2nd dvd arrrr. I will rent it now.
I learned many new skills from this series and would recommend it.
One of the best of this genre. Instructions were very clear & direct. Most of these DVD take to long to get to the point. It was like when I went to design school.
Really helped me. I will be getting the others. Easy to follow.
I've been sewing for 40 some years and still got some tips from this video. The tips for pinless sewing are worth their weight in gold.
While this is an older video, the techniques shown are still up-to-date. Even though I've been sewing for years, I found many time saving tips in this video.
