Steve LaDuk's seminar at the 1999 PGI convention shows how strobe rockets can be made right and safely. Steve explains up front that these comps are shock sensitive. They can't be pounded; you must use a hydraulic press. Steve discusses ramming force and how to calculate it. He explains the importance of sleeves and how they are made and used. Steve discusses the vital importance of Vaseline (petrolatum) as he shows exactly how a strobe comp is made. Composition formulas, mixing technique (for instance, should strobe mix be ball milled), the importance of thorough mixing, even storage life of the comp--all these are covered in detail. He also goes into magnesium types and processing; cleaning the ram; tips on pressing procedures that would otherwise take you years to learn making end caps; making heading tubes; fastening tubes to the rocket motors. He explains rocket sticks and fastening them; the right and wrong way to fuse these rockets. He demonstrates the whole construction project: from mixing the comp, through pressing a motor, to finishing the rocket. He even discusses colored strobes. Finally he tells how to keep your rocket from blowing up! A long-awaited video by one of pyro rocketry's acknowledged masters. Includes an insert with rocket tooling dimensions, red and white strobe and whistle mix formulations.
