This digitally filmed 2 hour instructional DVD narrated by Charlie Ochs, ABS Master Smith will answer all the questions anyone might have about how to make a knife. Although the Ox Forge Special Operations Bowie Ochs makes in this DVD is forged to shape, grinding or stock removal is also illustrated so that the forging steps might be eliminated. There are scene selections that cover: forging and annealing, use of a pattern, grinding the profile, squaring the ricasso, preparing the tang, grinding the sides of the blade, heat treating, finish grinding, buffing, shaping and fitting the guard, handle construction and final touches. Making a sheath is also covered.

Charlie takes you thru start to finish on making a great looking functional knife that is sure to please! Lots of great close-ups and wonderful naration makes this a must see!
Mr. Ochs does a great job in this video. He presents his material very clearly and takes you from "soup to nuts" on forging and finishing the Ox Forge Bowie. The video even shows how to make the sheath for the knfe and gives tips on leather work. Over all, I would have to say that this is a great video and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn to make this particular knife.
WARNING - This video is strictly about forging the Ox Forge Bowie and Mr. Ochs does not discuss general topics like various blade designs or edge geometry and such. If you like his knives and you want to learn how to make one, then you're in for a great show.

Good demonstration and walk through. Entertaining and informative. There's a lot of ways to make a knife and this is just one but well worth the watch.
Good, covers the making of the Ox Forge Bowie. If you want to know how to make any other kind of knife you will want to view a diffrent DVD...
This is a good video I enjoyed every minute especially the good ole boy attitude.
This is an excellent video. From the minimalist equipment, through the thorough coverage of all aspects of knifemaking, to the tips, shortcuts and cautions Ochs throws in so non-nonchalantly, shows that he really knows his stuff.
The biggest value was probably the fact that this is what the guy does - it's certainly not the all-to-common example of "Those who can...,do - Those who can't...,teach". This guy really HAS made thousands of these knives, and in the process has solved so many of the "gotcha's" that novices like me would spend months and maybe years learning about on our own. The beauty of it is that he's very generous with his knowledge, and that's good for all of us.
The video itself is well presented too, with good audio and production value. I was very impressed and recommend this video on knifemaking over any of the others I've seen.
