When it comes to realistic fire...I think John's style it the best! Mike Lavalle may have invented the process..but John has perfected it!

The video is like standing there in the booth of a working shop watching him over his shoulder...as a matter of fact you can hear all the background noise and worker yelling at each other! LOL!

It is some what slow paced and at times the lighting makes it look like he's spraying water and not pearl...but overall I think as you watch it and see how he's creating the licks and the way they layer over each other...you can tell he has studied and mastered the real -fire technique!

His use of the airbrush is minumial as most of it is done with a touch up gun! that really suprised me and found it to be a more traditional approach! But the results spreak for themselves! I think a traditional bodyman/painter could pull this one off without much fuss and a little practice!

His use of the sheild is very minumial and uses more free-hand to capture the look of real flames! So if your looking for something different than the standard "swiss cheese" look being done today...check out this one!

Quality of filming...I'd have to give it a 3 and the actual conversation on the technique a 3 1/2 - 4...I guess overall a solid 4! If he had offered more on the how's and why's of what he's doing things.... it would be a solid 5!

For 10 bucks to preview...you can't lose!

This is a good video. I was curious how other painters did the Realistic Flames.John Harris does a good job. It is done in an actual shop. His way is good to know also. He does a very big project.

This instructional video reminded me of Micky Harris. It's more of a free-hand style. Flames aren't that hard if you use lots of references and use the right Kandy's. Of the free-hand style, Micky Harris video is better. He does a few different vehicles and also incorporates some artwork into the flames (an eagle). This is just one style in an ever growing flame market.

What a great technique this guy has come up with. Quite different from the other realistic fire artists. John Harris creates the most realistic transparent fire that I've seen yet. 10+

I found the video to be very detailed and instructional. John's technique offered me more ideas to work with as I develop my own style of painting realistic flames.
