I don't want to say it's bad but you should know it's people who are at the early stage of learning how to light. Most of the examples are stationary 3 point lighting. If you're looking for film style lighting this is not it.

Is there a place to see brief preview clips of these videos before renting?

[ SmartFlix staff: It's a great idea, but right now, the answer is "no", unfortunately. ]

I realize that renting is a pretty cheap way to preview a video, but it's still expensive enough to make me want to have just one more piece of info before committing. Of course the more reviews there are for a given video the less need there is for a preview as I can usually pick up enough info from the reviews alone.

Not the intricate and complex dvd you would hope for when learning about digital lighting. seriously all of the info on this dvd could have been covered in 3 disc. some helpful tips, but certainly ones that could easily have been found by leafing thru a begginers book on lighting. Definitely don't rent the full set, invest your $$$ elsewhere.
