Let me give you my feeling and understanding of the DVD Revere on Goldsmithing: Project 5: Hollow Wedding Band. All is not lost; Alan Revere has you in his well fitted-out Major Workshop 'Class Room'. He's got a wood tree stump that's bigger and heaver than my car. He simply transports you to his workshop in San Fransico, California. At first I sat and watched the whole workshop without taking any notes then I repeated the workshop again taking notes. Then, the 3rd time, I found half a dozen things from past showings that had been missed by me, (1.) Supply List - You will need 9 items: 14k gold, sterling sliver, solder, wire, ect. (2.) I count 34 plus Tools needed to make this Gold & Silver hollow ring along with access to a jewelers workshop. This process could very well show you a direction you might not have given any though to before. I could very well see many style rings, bracelets and necklesses coming from this type of high end jewelry making. Let me say that Alan Revere craftsmanship and teaching style gets my votefor a 5 star workshop. Not for the beginner- that is unless you happen to be a tool maker like myself. The final words on this DVD: Alan makes my heart sing knowing that there are fine, fine craftsman such as Alan Revere passing along such a fine craft.
