An exciting and informative look at Schmids fifty year career in painting the figure, portraits, still life and landscape. Richard comments briefly on each painting and sometimes at length where he shows the steps from first marks to the finish. Many useful comments about composition are made that I found helpful. This is a portrait of an artist who is very confident in his skills and accomplishments and not afraid of showing it. Bragging? Perhaps, but if you like Schmids work you cannot fail to impressed by his enthusiasm for painting and what he can do with a brush and knife. Like me you will be freshly motivated in your painting endeavors. If there is a negative in the DVD from a landscape artist's point of view, it is that landscapes are in the minority of subjects, the majority being figure and portrait.
This was a nice presentation of Schmid's work with some sequential shots...many works I have not seen before and I thought I had seen most. Recommend for any Schmid fan. I do think there were at least 150 paintings and drawings.
This is an educational slide show! Several examples of painting at several stages up to completion. With Richard's commentary, this was a surprisingly good find.
It was a very enjoyable DVD. Any Richard Schmid fan would love it.
