I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Bob has a very relaxed presentation style that makes the viewing enjoyable.
Exceptionally well produced and photographed from all angles----superb production. I really enjoyed the DVDs. This guy does beautiful work.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their drawer making ability. Even though this guy Cosman is very advanced in his ability and is, shall we say, obsessive, it is interesting to see what is involved in getting something perfect. Something to aspire to, I suppose. I intend to get part 2, so I guess that is a thumbs-up from me.
Obsessive compulsive disorder, wood moves with changes in humidity. Overly reworking a dynamic material is a waste of effort. You would have to match his workshop climate to the eventual home of the finished work. But the front draw stop is a good idea.
Anyone who has met Mr. Cosman in person would think twice about listening to anything he says. His methods are over simplified, his instructions are laughable, and his arrogance is astounding. These videos are nothing more than 4 hours of tired self-promotion combined with a shameless sales pitch for Lie-Nielsen. I highly respect Lie-Nielsen tools, but wouldn't purchase anything based on Rob Cosman's advice.
Rob Cosman is an excellent instructor. He follows the the kind of directions that Ian Kirby offers in his "The Complete Dovetail", I found watching this approach in live action very helpful, and the book serves as a good review of the DVD. The pace of instruction and the clarity of the camera work make renting this DVD a very sound investment.
