Every step of machining the receiver, bolt, barrel and scope mounts is shown. He discusses and shows the various components, tools and products he uses when building this highly precise firearm.

This video covers truing up the model 700 action and bolt; chambering and installing a barrel; cutting various crowns. The tool required is a long bed metal lathe, with appropriate cutters, preferably one with a good sized through-bore in the headstock, though not necessary.
This video takes you through planing, procuring, cutting, and assembling the parts. This is a workshop video with a close-up of a spinning lathe in just about every frame. While finished rifles are shown they are not fired. The "target rifle" chosen is a medium contour 308 repeater, as a general purpose rifle for various big bore shooting disciplines. Other than the use of a target reamer this rifle could just as easily have been made up for big game hunting. So anyone who likes a target quality rifle for that purpose, is going to find all the required info here also.

I found this set very informative. It answered a lot a questions I had after reading the book.
I HAVE READ MANY BOOKS REGARDING GUNSMITHING AND RIFLE BUILDING. HOWEVER DVD WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND INCORPORATED MORE THAN THE BOOKS COULD HAVE RELAYED. VERY ESSENTIAL VIDEO AS YOU CAN READ A BOOK BUT WHEN IT COMES PRACTICALITY OF IT THE VIDEO IS A MUST AS BOOKS DO NOT SHOW THE EXPERIENCE BUT IN VIDEO YOU ARE WATCHING AN EXPERIENCED MACHINIST PERFORMING THE TOOLING AND MANUFACTURING AND YOU CAN LEARN AND INCORPORATE THE WAYS TO AVOID MISTAKES.
If you ever wondered how to build a "match" grade rifle from a Remington 700 receiver, this video should answer some of these question. The main focus of this video is the receiver. Or more exactly, how to prep it, i.e blue print the action. The video starts discussing barreling but it only start that topic. Part 2 deals more with that subject. I enjoyed the DVD and I think anyone would as well who likes to learn about gunsmithing.
