Excellent video for advanced students. Sherrie is fine artist and great teacher.
Very slow. She can't talk and paint at the same time and spent too much time taking, repeating herself frequently. I had to watch it in fast forward and finally just quit watching all together.
I would not recommend this video. The commentary left much to be desired. She is a good artist but this was not a good instructional video. Fran M.
I highly recommend this two part instructional tape. The artist grasps the need of the student to follow her particular process through the creation of the live figure painting. Far from being tedious, these details gave me valuable insights into her successful methods and those of her self-proclaimed mentor, David Leffel. What we see is a modern day exposition of chiaroscuro painting as initially developed by the Masters but with the use of currently available materials. I am indebted to Ms. McGraw for the experience and anticipate further sessions with her in future projects.

It was great. Sherrie goes over the essences of painting. She is not a copyist so dont expect a formula. She firmly believes art is about the moment and much more in the seeing rather than a to do list. So if you feel like you got some skill, the next step is to appreciate the real side of painting and sherrie does in fact communicate this insight.
Fantastic! OK, not for the beginner, but for the serious painter it doesn't get better. I really liked the way she explained the difference between drawing the figure and painting it. Carole F.
I just have to say THANK YOU for sharing your artistic skill and techniques with us. I don't think some of us know that there was a time that artists kept everything secret. In saying that I want to thank her for her patience in taking time out to teach us in need. I know I could never teach after attending so many workshops and having to baby certain people who should just go back to art 101. We should all be grateful that these artists are willing to share with us and teach. None of us should criticize anyone who is taking the time to give you a hand.
Sherrie McGraw's video was an execellent presentation of painting the figure.
